The Migration Process
Moving accounting systems requires planning. You can export your customer details, vendor lists and inventory items from your current software and import them into Paper & Pen. However, historical invoices, receipts and past journal entries do not transfer automatically. You must keep your old records for tax compliance. The most practical time to switch is at the start of a new financial year. You can close your books in your old system, export your closing balances, and enter them as opening balances in Paper & Pen.

Paper & Pen is not the right fit for everyone. If you run a service business that relies heavily on automatic bank feeds to categorise expenses, you should stay where you are. We do not offer bank feeds or open banking connections. If you require a dedicated mobile app from an app store, you will not find one here. Wave is an established product with its own paid subscriptions and features. Please check their website for their current capabilities. If their tools already match your exact workflow, there is no need to migrate.
