What is an estimate?

An estimate is an approximate, non-binding figure you give a customer for work that is not yet fully scoped. It signals likely cost so the client can decide whether to proceed, without locking you into a fixed price. Once the scope is confirmed, an estimate usually becomes a firm quotation or an invoice.
