What is a quotation?

A quotation (or quote) is a formal offer you send a prospective customer stating the price for specific goods or services, usually with a validity period and terms. It is not yet a demand for payment, it is your proposed price. Once the client accepts, the quotation becomes the basis for a sales order or invoice.

How does a client accept a quote?

Can I convert a quote into an invoice?
Yes. One click turns an accepted quotation into an invoice or sales order, carrying over every line, discount and tax so nothing is re-keyed.
Can I set a validity date?
Yes. Add a validity period and the quote shows as expired once it passes, which is a useful nudge for the client to decide.
What is the difference between a quotation and a proforma invoice?
A quotation is a price offer before a deal is agreed. A proforma invoice is a more formal advance bill, often used for deposits, customs or pre-payment, issued once the client intends to buy.
