What is a sales order?

A sales order is a document a seller creates to confirm a customer's order after a quotation is accepted. It records the agreed items, quantities, prices, taxes and delivery terms, and it becomes the internal instruction to fulfil and then bill the order. It sits between the quotation and the invoice, giving you a clean record of what was promised before anything ships.
